My big ambition last year was to ride the Tour of Flanders sportive – 260k and 2,350m. I knew this would be a challenge. I got in touch with Louis and told him (a) I’m no longer young and unlikely to win the Tour de France(!), (b) I just ride my bike without knowing how to get better, and (c) I’d do whatever training he advised. Louis put together a detailed personal training plan which was easy to follow and, even if not every exercise was enjoyable, definitely gave a feeling of progress. More to the point, he gave me specific feedback and loads of encouragement. Net result, I enjoyed Flanders no end, and had the legs for a strong finish too.
